Prices for blueberries in Poland began to decline rapidly, according to EastFruit analysts. Despite great interest of wholesale companies in berry purchases, the supply significantly exceeds the real demand and manufacturers are forced to reduce selling prices in this segment.
According to the daily monitoring of the project, only since the beginning of this week, blueberries in Polish farms fell by an average of 24%. Today, gardeners are selling the main sales at $ 5.30-8.48 / kg, whereas a week earlier they did not agree to ship less than $ 7.95 / kg.
The project analysts note that the fall in prices for blueberries at the end of June is not a new phenomenon: as a rule, it is at this time that the active harvesting of the berries begins, which is accompanied by an increase in supply in the market. In addition, the pressure on the pricing is exerted by the low quality of the blueberry due to the rainy weather during the ripening period of this berry.
It is worth noting that today prices for blueberries in Poland are on average 33% more expensive than during the same period last year. At the end of June 2018, Polish growers could not manage to go higher than $ 5.88 / kg.
